Oscar Chi-Lim Au (Chinese: 區子廉, also known as Oscar Au) is a practicing engineer in the field of digital image processing who worked as a professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in Hong Kong from 1992 to 2014.[1,4,5] He earned his B.A.Sc. degree from the University of Toronto in 1986, and received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Princeton University in 1988 and 1991, respectively, under the supervision of John B. Thomas, with his 1991 doctoral dissertation titled "Signal Detection in Non-Gaussian Transformation Noise".[3] In 2012, he was elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for his contributions to multimedia coding and security.[2] Currently, he serves as the Vice President of Strategic Development and Alliance (or Development and Strategic Partnerships) at Origin Wireless, Inc., a company founded by Prof. K. J. Ray Liu to pioneer wireless AI for wireless and device sensing as well as indoor positioning and connectivity.[4]
